In 2012, I was awarded an Erskine Fellowship at the University of Canterbury, New Zealand, and spent a month there teaching and exploring new approaches to teaching. In 2013, I won the Pearson-sponsored ANZAM Management Educator of the Year award. At Deakin University, I also developed, launched, and ran a Master of Leadership. At the University of Wollongong, I redesigned a postgraduate course on leadership and developed a sport management course for undergraduates.

Before turning to academia I worked for eight years in managerial roles in the music, banking, and executive search industries. My employers included Heavy Metal Records, EMI, Phongram, Citibank, Morgan Grenfell, and Scott Collins.
